Borrowed, not owned
The teaching
Every object in your house was made of something older than you, by hands that were not yours, and will outlast its usefulness to you. Ownership is a short chapter in a long life.
Today’s practice
Choose one object you'd call yours. Write its history: the material it came from, who likely made it, where it will be in fifty years.
Sit with this
If you are its custodian rather than its owner, does that change how you'd treat it?
